There is no hard and fast rule here; however, at least four payments must be made on your current loan before you can be considered for a renewal loan. It usually will depend on the size of your present loan – the bigger the loan, the more payments we expect to have been made. If you've just recently taken out a large loan and have made only a few payments, it will probably be too soon to refinance. On the other hand, if you've established a good paying record and have worked your present loan's balance down, then there's a good chance you can re-apply.
